NYAGI Project in Somaliland

Transforming Maternal Care in Somaliland

In Somaliland, where access to healthcare is limited, the NYAGI Project is revolutionizing healthcare in remote areas. By implementing a specialized triage model, we ensure that critical cases receive immediate care, while allowing local health workers to manage ongoing community needs. We’re not just providing medical care—we’re building a sustainable system that empowers local communities to take charge of their health long after we are gone.

Empowering Local Healthcare Workers

  • Reducing Maternal and Infant Mortality

Somaliland has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. An estimated 732 maternal deaths occur per 100,000 live births. NYAGI wants to make a difference.

  • Training Healthcare Providers

NYAGI equips healthcare workers with essential ultrasound and diagnostic skills. Through hands-on training, local providers can detect complications early, making a lasting impact on maternal and child health. NYAGI’s mission is to make preventable maternal deaths a thing of the past.

  • Implementing a Triage Model

In rural Somaliland, NYAGI’s triage model prioritizes critical cases, sending life-threatening ones to larger hospitals with more resources. This approach ensures urgent care reaches those most in need, maximizing impact in communities with limited healthcare.
