Jim Grigsby, PhD

Jim Grigsby, PhD, is Professor of Psychology, University of Colorado Denver, and Professor of Medicine, Division of Health Care Policy & Research, University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Trained in psychology, and board certified in clinical psychology, he has worked at CU Denver for 35 years as a cognitive neuroscientist and health services researcher, teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in neuroscience. For the last 20 years, his research has been consistently funded as principal investigator and co-investigator by the National Institutes of Health, and he has had research funding from the Department of Defense, Medicare, Health Resources and Services Administration, Office for the Advancement of Telehealth, and other federal, state and private agencies.

Dr. Grigsby has done research on telemedicine coverage and payment policy, and telehealth outcomes, since 1993. He was a co-discoverer in 1999 of the fragile X tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS), a late-onset, X-linked neurodegenerative movement disorder. With a grant from the National Cancer Institute, he is studying the outcomes of psilocybin-assisted therapy in palliative care for persons with late-stage cancer. He also has an interest in refugee mental health.
