Jason Houston

Jason Houston’s photography and filmmaking looks how we live on the planet and with each other, exploring human experience from the perspective of culture and community. He works closely with the people he photographs, including various collaborative and participatory approaches, to learn from and accurately document their lives, understand the issues that affect them, and drive awareness to help guide social and environmental change. Jason has partnered with many organizations including The Nature Conservancy, WWF, UNESCO, USAID, and the Pulitzer Center in over 30 countries and on projects ranging from wildland firefighting in the American west and orangutan conservation in Borneo to documentation of small-scale fisheries throughout the developing tropics and indigenous rights in the Amazon. His work has been published editorially and exhibited publicly around the world. He is a Senior Fellow at International League of Conservation Photographers and a Senior Fellow at Wake Forest University’s Center for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability.
